Loopback

The Travellers have got back to Sylea, so it’s time to plan for the next stage of the campaign. So far, we’ve had the Shakedown Cruise, which was designed to introduce the players to the setting, rules and style of game.
Now it’s time for them to head off into the sandbox.
First though, they have some things to tidy up. The biggest thing to do is to rename their ship. It (a Lab Ship, so a ring shaped ship) had been named the Big Sphincter by the player whose character had owned it. Since that player has left the group, everyone else had decided that a new name was needed.
After much discussion, the name of Loopback was decided upon. An IT reference, a reference to the ship’s shape, and also a reference to their mission – since they are going out and coming back again.
Their new mechanic crew member, who they had rescued from the ship attacked by pirates, worked on fixing the damage to their ship. She managed to save them 80% of the costs, getting the MCr1 repair costs down to a mere KCr200 due to a lucky Mechanics check.
Next up was claiming salvage on both the pirate vessel, and the ship that was attacked. They hired some lawyers to help them file their claim, and ended up bringing in a total of MCr14. That had definitely been worth their while.
The two Vilani sophonts they’d taken from Kishnar, examples of their culture which had suffered brain damage over the generations, were handed over to medical services. With the help of Nashu’s documentary, this helped kick off a big campaign to intervene in that world. They handed over the intelligence that had been gathered, which would help both KGG Corp and the Imperium in their quest for expansion.
Now they did what any self respecting group of PCs do when they get a large sum of money – go shopping. So most of the rest of the session was a big shopping expedition. Once they get out into Fornast sector though, there won’t be many worlds accepting Imperium credits.
So there isn’t much to write about for this session. There was a small amount of talk about what to do with Vera Vane, the pirate who had been framed for corruption. I think this is just something that will happen in the background, rather than the players getting involved in the details.
KGG Corp has given the Travellers the location of some high populations worlds which are probably good candidates to head for. They are about three sub-sectors into Fornast Sector, so it could be a long trip.
Hopefully next week, we can start the main part of the campaign.
