Marriage

In our Pendragon campaign, the Battle of the Humber is over. We get Sir Madog and Sir Geoffrey off the battlefield, and collect up any loot that we can. We hear that the Saxon leader has managed to sneak off to Eboracum, which King Arthur promptly begins to besiege. Whilst my companions are looked after by Merlin (with help from Piglet and Winston), I join King Arthur in charging at the walls of the city.
It is quickly decided that charging the walls won’t work, so we settle in for trying to starve them off.
Whilst we start work on siege equipment, we hear that a second Saxon army has landed on the coast. Given that Winter is Coming, Arthur decides to head back to London, along with the rest of us.
Our lord, Earl Robert of Salisbury, wants to get married. He is marrying Lady Margaret of Uffingham, due to her having huge tracts as land, as well as “huge tracts of land”. He requires knights of renown to take her gifts and to negotiate. So that falls to us.
Winter
We head to Uffingham, armed with gifts and poetry. We have to talk to the Earl of Rydychan, in order to get permission to speak with the Lady. Apparently Sir Robert hasn’t even done this bit yet. We manage to persuade the Lord to give us permission, though we think it’s more just to get rid of us than because he’s impressed with our courtly skills.
We spend a a couple of weeks speaking with the Lady, and she agrees to accept Sir Robert’s advances. We escort her back to Salisbury to meet with her future husband. Over the course of the winter season, they get married.
A chaplain cited my pious conduct during the Christmas sermon. This gives me a re-roll during the following year.

We have heard rumours that Merlin is dead, that we was killed by Arthur’s sister Morgana. Whether that is true or not, we don’t know.
I propose to my Lady Petronelle, and she accepts. I use my re-roll for this, which gets me a critical on my passion for her. Fortunately, she also comes with large tracts of land, so we will have somewhere to settle down once we get married and start a family.
Our Earl is enjoying married life, but is still worried about the Saxon raiders to the south. Whilst the King is mustering his army, Earl Robert suggests a chevauchées into Saxon territory – sudden, fast raiding with an aim to hurt their economy, military and morale.
The Earl also asks us to find out what the Saxon Gidric is up to, and maybe destroy his manor. He provides us with some men to go with us.
We head south, and meet up with the poachers who are going to be working with us. They have been raiding the Saxon deer and other resources, which means we are eating really well.
Eventually, we get down to the area where the Saxon manor is located. It is on the far side of the river, so we will need to cross the river in order to assault the place. It may be better to burn their boats, and maybe set fire to their walls rather than try open combat. They outnumber us, so a fair fight is something we want to avoid.
