The five year campaign to save the Inner Sea from the rise of the Runelord Karzoug is at an end, with success for the players.

In the (hopefully) penultimate session of our Rise of the Runelords campaign, the party finally reaches the Eye of Avarice to battle Karzoug himself, and prevent him from escaping his prison and reforming the ancient kingdom of Thassilon.

I’m expecting this to be the penultimate session of the campaign, for all the final obstacles to finding Karzoug were eliminated in this session, leaving just the anima focus and the PC’s needing to figure out how to face Karzoug and slay him before he can arise from his self-imposed exile.

Dealing with the Thing Beyond Time, and a very lucky (though short lived) Shemazian demon, the party clear their way to the Chamber of the Anima Focus, where the final defence of Karzoug’s resting place awaits them.

As the Rise of the Runelords campaign nears its end, the group frees an angel from a binding oath, and massacres the strange creatures of Leng who are operating some weird technological device.

The PCs flee from the Pinnacle of Avarice, not realising that they’ve pretty much shattered most of its defences. After a chat with a sword, they return to accept the surrender of the last few priestesses and gain some useful information.
